The Step-by-Step Adoption Process
A Clear Guide to Starting Your Hopeful Adoption Journey.
Understanding Your Path
We understand that the adoption process can feel intimidating, but at Little Angels, we make it structured, transparent, and personal. Our adoption journey is divided into six key phases, ensuring you are emotionally and legally prepared to welcome your new family member.
Key Phases of Adoption
Initial Consultation & Orientation
Your first meeting with our team. We discuss your expectations, legal requirements, available types of adoption, and answer all your questions. This is a non-obligatory step to ensure Little Angels is the right fit for you.
Application & Home Study
Following registration, our social worker guides you through the home study process. This involves home visits, background checks, interviews, and document gathering to legally and emotionally validate your readiness to adopt.
Creating Your Parent Profile
We help you create a compelling and honest profile (book/video) to be shown to birth parents (if open adoption). This profile reflects your life, values, and the loving environment you offer.
Matching and Placement
This is the pivotal moment. Based on the home study criteria and the child’s needs, we facilitate a sensitive matching process. Once a match is made, our team manages the initial (transitional) placement with full support.
Adjustment and Supervision Period
The law requires a post-placement supervision period. During this time, our social workers conduct routine visits and provide counseling to ensure a smooth adjustment for both the child and the family. Our emotional support is most intense in this phase.
Court Finalization
Once the supervision period is successfully completed, our legal team files the final adoption petition with the court. You are officially recognized as the legal parents. This is a celebration! We also provide access to our long-term post-adoption services.
